She began her career as a paralegal in North Carolina before obtaining her real estate brokers' license. In 2006, Akemi moved to the Grand Strand where she worked in new home sales. Akemi is experienced in working directly with builders, contractors, and engineers as well as city and county governments in the Carolinas. Moreover, she has extensive experience working with homeowners’ associations and has acted as a closing coordinator for foreign and domestic real estate transactions.
